Anke Domaske - clothes made from milk

Anke Domaske is a 28 year old biologist and fashion designer who makes clothes from a very unusual fabric, milk yarn. She has come up with an easy and environmentally friendly way to extract fibres from milk and her designs are proving very successful.Domaske's creative idea has won her the innovation award of Germany's Textile Research Association. The association acknowledged the fact that this is a sustainable fiber that can alter the clothing production industry.

Qmilch only uses a half gallon of water to make 2 pounds of fabric.

Mazinèddas - beautiful pics become jewelry

Yesterday I went to a nice vintage market in Palazzo Gnudi, an old building in the city center of Bologna.Among the many different stalls, there was one in particular which caught my attention.
The owner of the stand was a beautiful lady from Sardinia.
She makes beautiful jewelry by using old pictures and simple strings. Each piece is different, unique and handmade.
Danile, the owner, does not sell to shops as her personal choice. She prefers to sell at market, see the faces of the people buying her pieces and establishing a relationship with them.

A few days ago I was contacted by Valentina Marchetti, a graphic designer who in 2008 has launched a brand called "e-vasiva" together with two other designers.
I think e-vasiva is indeed a creative idea. The ladies behind the project use recycled materials like plastic, paper, fabrics and others to make beautiful jewelry.

Biofashion Habitat - eco-fashion

Biofashion Habitat, which took place in Cali, Colombia on the 26th of November, showcased designs made with natural materials and live plants. Sustainable fashion included organic materials, clean production methods, natural fibres, recycling of materials, fair trade, energy conservation and any other methods to reduce the impact on  earth.
Once worn, the clothes presented can be returned to nature to decompose, per the cycle of life.
What a great source of inspiration!

Hindividu - breathtaking pics by Philippe Calia

I fell in love with these beautiful images as soon as I saw them. Both because they portray India, a country I deeply love, and because they are simply poetic.
The photographer who took them is Philippe Calia, a French photographer. His work has been exhibited in art galleries in India, France and UK.
His educational background in Political Science led him to study extensively the dynamics between religion and public space, specifically in India.
