I am in Budapest now. I come here to spend a few relaxed days...as always when I am here I like to go and explore new, creative shops - which are actually growing in number day by day.
Yesterday I had a look at a shop called Siberia..it's a fantastic shop in Budapest city center- close to the synagogue- in Wesselényi u. 19.
The designer is Anna Zaboeva who is from Russia. She creates her shoe and boot collection from strange materials and shapes. Her shop is quite unusual, it is open until 11 pm and serves as an urban art gallery during the evening...it is worth taking a look!!
Below are some of the pics I tokk from outside and inside...

Horror Barbie - the best hairdresser in Budapest
I really loved this hairdresser in Budapest. It is located in Nagymező utca 8 and it is simply great. I paid something like 65000 HUf for a great cut and the staff is simply amazing...and come on, the name is just too cute!!

Fregoli - a great shop with top Hungarian brands
During one of my daily walk in Pest, I found out an amazing shop called Fregoli.
It has become one of my favourite shops now as it sells modern Hungarian fashion brands. I JUST LOVE IT!!!!!
It is located in Bástya utca and it offers everything from bicycle-inner-tube-bags through pretty cocktail dresses, to quality outfits and accessories.
I bought a nice little orange bag there and the staff was so incredibly friendly!!!
I must say I fell in love with a brand called Balkantango...check it out at http://www.balkan-tango.com/

Toldi - my favourite cinema in Budapest
Budapest is full of theatres and cinemas...so whenever I am in Budapest I try to take advantage of that and I go out to movies as often as I can. My favourite cinema is Toldi, which belongs to the chain of art mozi (art cinemas - www.artmozi.hu/toldi).
Last night me and my husband went there and watched Az igazság ára (actually I don t even remember the title in English) ...a kind of spy story featuring Matthew McConaughey...the film was nothing special but the movie theatre in itself was absolutely amazing!!!!Monday, 15 August 2011
Párizsi Nagyáruház, Budapest (or heaven on earth)
In Andrássy Ut, it is my favourite bookshop and caffeteria...go there and indulge on coffee and sweets...for a heavenly memory of Budapest!!!!
Great Market Hall ( Nagyvasarcsarnok) in Budapest
Located in Vámház Körút 1-3, the Great Market Hall is definitely a place to be seen in Budapest.
I went there today and spent 2 hours there. It is the greatest indoor market of Hungary and the atmosphere there is really unique.
Most of the stalls on the ground floor offer produce, meats, pastries, candies, spices, and paprika, local wines, pastries, fruits and vegetables. The second floor has mainly eateries and souvenirs.
Here are some pics I took of what I liked inside...

i didn't buy anything ..but here are some of the pics I took in the shop.
Retrock is in Henszlmann Imre utca 1.

Back to Budapest - so much is going on in summer time!
I know. I m guilty. I haven't uploaded any new posts in ages. The main reason for that is that I have first been to Riccione (100 km from Bologna, at the seaside - and before leaving I decided not to take my laptop with me - big mistake I know) and now I am in Budapest, Hungary.
I thought I could rely here on my husband international internet USB key which is obviously not working now....
So basically now I find myself in Hungary's capital (where the weather is pretty cold and I have NO warm clothes..and the Sziget Festival is currently running) with no internet connection..and this is driving me crazy!!
I am planning to stay here for the next 10 days...so I have to figure out some survival techniques...I ll have to pay visits to internet points, use the wifi connection at starbucks (and connect through my i phone)...but God...this is going to be hard...
Anyway here are some of the pics I have recently taken with my i phone (using the hipstamatic application in some cases)
Pic 1. The Szalaij Bakery close to my house...excellent food (and one of the oldest in town, established in 1917)
Pic 2. View of Buda and the Danube from Pest
Pic 3. Thai massage in Budapest (Sen Spa, close to Szabagsad Square)..I love it!
Pic 5. Antique shop plus book shop (unfortunately closed...but what a beautiful sign!!!)
and the last 2 pictures were taken in Riccione...just before leaving the beach and heading to Budapest!!

Tomorrow I ll post some pics about all these people and places....Friday, 15 July 2011
Simson motorbike, Fabric Cafe and Katalin Verebics....how can Budapest offer so much???
I feel guilty because I have been neglecting my blog for a while recently..but I had a hectic week and had almost no time (or no internet connection) to upload new posts.Last week I travelled to Rome, Budapest, Brussels.
The highlight of my trips has been obviously Budapest. My husband has bought a simson motorbike- a kind of vespa which was used in the ex communist countries in the 60s and 70s - so we have been going around the town with it.
We have discovered nice new places in Budapest (like the Fabric Cafe , which you can see below)
and met many interesting people like Katalin Verebcis, a young painter from Budapest who is very talented

I love what Kati paints and her style. She definitely deserves fame and success (and yes, a better post on my blog as well :))

Wall stickers at In Situ - Budapest
I think wall stickers are a nice - and affordable - way to decorate a house.
When I was in Budapest I visited - totally accidentally - a shop called In Situ which is located in Budapest's center, next to Astoria square at Múzeum körút 7 in a patio and sells beautiful wall stickers.
Here is the shop
The shop sells actually a wide range of design objects like bags, hanging clocks, jewels, and yes....my beloved lomo camera as well!!!
Take a look at the shop's website at http://insitu.hu/ws/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=73
