Wearable plants

Miniature Icosahedron in Aqua: A Wearable Planter

Bloom Planter: A Wearable Planter

Wouldn't you like to carry around a small plant with you during the day? This necklace will let you do just that, and also bring  fresh air along with you. The icosahedron is a form that has inspired artists and scientists for centuries with its symmetry and elegance. This piece adds a bit of geometric flair to any outfit as well!

This wearable planter is created digitally with modeling software and is then 3d printed out of nylon and hand dyed and sealed.

These planters are the creation of Colleen Jordan and grew out of a semester-long research project that she was working on at Georgia Tech. You can buy them from her Etsy store for $55 each.

Roni Kantor- vegan leather shoes from Israel

My daily discovery today  is the beautiful shop "Roni Kantor Vintage" from Tel Aviv, Israel, that produces a lovely shoes collection! The "Winter 2012" collection is inspired from original vintage designs and produced in a small and cozy family factory exclusively with 100 % ecologic vegan leather!
Located in an old fashion styled apartment on the 2nd floor of a preserved building in Tel Aviv`s most lovely blvd, the shop - from the pics- seems to be full with nostalgic atmosphere and vintage inspired garments (shoes, bags and belts are made from high quality vegan leather).
I just love it!

Lanzavecchia + Wai

LANZAVECCHIA + WAI is a creative collaboration between Francesca Lanzavecchia and Hunn Wai. To them, being designers means being researchers.
Design projects to them are research journeys characterized by the pursuit and selective employment of different design disciplines.
I love the orginal objects they are able to create.

Right now their lamps can be bought (for those in Bologna) at Martino Design, located in Bologna city center (see one of my previous post or check it out at www.martinodesign.it)

Magò East Africa= African fabric + Italian Design

African fabrics and Italian design is the synthesis of MAGO’ East Africa a clothing line and brand created in Zanzibar in 2006 by Margherita Marvasi (orginally from Bologna!!) who developed it in cooperation with a Tanzanian professional team. The business idea of MAGO’ is to produce unique clothing and accessories of the highest quality in Zanzibar. And the production is fair with an aim to make as little environmental impact as possible.
MAGO’ produces in small and limited numbers and each piece is entirely hand made, followed, cut and sewn by a single tailor with great attention given to details. The result is a collection of shirts, dresses, skirts and accessories tailor made with high quality standards in colorful patterns.
From 2010 the brand is also sold in Rio de Janeiro and Sweden. In 2011 opened the second brand store in Stone Town, Zanzibar (Magò Boutique and Magò Studio).

Haikure - eco fashion

Haikure is at the cutting edge of fashion!! It is a true eco-fashion brand committed to ensuring the total sustainability of its collections and to making garments with the highest respect for nature and people. This also involves production processes and means suitable to minimize the environmental impact.

What I love about the brand is that consumers, thanks to the QR code placed on a label, can directly track any garment story and so verify its eco-sustainability through all production stages.

Tschagsalmaa Borchuu - Thos - Mongolian Fashion

One more post on Mongolia, one more post in black and white.
Today my attention was caught by THOS, which is an alternative fashion brand.
The designer comes from Mongolia where people believe in an ancient myth that you can charge your spirit and fortune by standing in the dust of famous horse races.
The first 2 pics represent Mongolian people wearing a simple pullover which is also worn by the model in the other images....
I love this adaptation of rural tradition into a modern and metropolitan style.
Tschagsalmaa Borchuu , as a brand strategist, chooses cashmere to tell the story and she does it to the level of exclusivity.

Mongolian Yurt Furniture

Ger furniture
Ger furniture
Ger furniture

I do love to daydream about different places where to live. Mongolia is one of those (ok, maybe not for a long time, but why not??). I love the Mongolian Yurt and Mongolian furniture in general.
Traditional yurts consist of an expanding wooden circular frame carrying a felt cover. I like the idea that yurt is designed to be dismantled and the parts can be carried compactly on camels or yaks to be rebuilt on another site. The complete construction takes around 2 hours.
Isn't it amazing? it perfectly suits the nomadic styler I love...

Almove, Shoulder Book Mark - just a great invention

Yesterday I went to MAMBO, which is the museum of modern art in Bologna and stopped for a while at the bookshop (I adore museums' bookshops).
The object which captured my attention the most was this one shoulder book mark designed by DDP Studio. DDP is made up of 3 young designers who make amazing and innovative objects with a great design.
This book carrier is fantastic for  physical books and magazines  especially if you want to walk around with your favorite volume ..
It is a great idea..isn't it? It's on sale for 22 euro at http://www.almove.it/en/prodotti/scheda_prodotto/segnalibro-da-passeggio
